The face behind it all…
hi there!
I’m Kiaira, Disability Advocate, First time mom and so excited to have you here. I created Mothers Inclusive inspired by my own motherhood journey with Cerebral Palsy. I’ve always loved sharing my life and how I adapt with my disability, For the past 3 years I’ve been spreading awareness of disability discrimination, educating about CP, and advocating for accessibility and disability rights and now sharing my experience with being a disabled mother.
Mothers Inclusive started as an online community for disabled and able-bodied women who needed a safe and accepting space to find support through their pregnancy & motherhood journeys. Today, I’ve partnered with the Grande Prairie Library to provide a disabled based parenting support group to mothers in my area. There’s many projects that I’m actively working on and will be growing Mothers Inclusive even more to continue to connect with our community and give inclusive resources to every mom who needs it!
My Inspiration
When I was going through my pregnancy with my son, I realised there wasn’t as many resources for women who have disabilities that are going through pregnancy or wanting to prepare for motherhood. Many questions I had about my reproductive health wasn’t answered fully, and I felt isolated in my unique experience as a disabled soon-to-be mother. I believe being a mother with a disability is not defined by our limitations but how we are determined to give our children a fulfilled and happy life. We are not less than because of our disabilities. So my Inspiration comes from being a woman who longed for a sense of community, and wanting to give other mothers out there the love and guidance we all deserve.
